Julia Gillard is coming to Regents Park Christian School

Breaking News: Julia Gillard is set to attend her next Community Cabinet meeting in Regents Park. It is the second time in as many months that she will be visiting Western Sydney. The announcement was first made to students on Thursday 2nd May during the school's weekly chapel services by principal Gary Brummell. This message was subsequently posted on social media by a number of students with some still in disbelief at the exciting news. Comments from students indicate that the school had previously informed students of a 'special announcement' that would be made on Thursday. Several students believed that it was a celebrity that was due to visit the school as in the past a number of notable Christian musicians such as Justice Crew, Nicole C. Mullen and Reggie Dabbs had performed on stage.

The school website subsequently changed its homepage to include a link to the official invitation offered to the general public. It is believed that senior staff, select prefects and students were aware of this news earlier in the week but were instructed not to disclose it until the official school announcement. Information obtained from Regents Park
Christian School's newsletter indicates that the school is very pleased to have successfully tendered for the privilege to host the Community Cabinet meeting later this month. "We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the Australian Federal Government’s upcoming Community Cabinet Meeting on Wednesday 22 May. It will be held from 4:00pm to approximately 7:30pm" - Term 2, Week 1 Community News.
The overall students' reaction was mixed. Facebook statuses about Julia Gillard were more cynical than exciting.

School staff at Regents Park will no doubt be busy as this is normally the period of Year 12 examinations as well as Camps and Ministries week. The school has advised students and parents that registration for attendance for the Community Cabinet must be completed through the Prime Minister's department website. The school is also providing catering for the event. As this is the Prime Minister's first visit to a Christian school, a large media presence is expected even though Regents Park Christian School is located in the safe Labor Party seat of Blaxland with a 12% margin for local MP Jason Clare. There are 350 public seating spaces available with registration opening on May 6.
